| Emergency Management Council The Los Angeles County Emergency Management Council is authorized by County Code 2.68. The Council oversees the preparedness activities of County departments. Through this oversight, the Council ensures that departments work cooperatively and with the same goals in preparing for and responding to a disaster. The Council reviews and approves major inter-departmental County plans. The Council also meets regularly following a disaster to provide policy support to the Board of Supervisors. The Council was certified with the California Disaster Council on June 12, 1946. The Council has established two standing committees. The Emergency Management Steering Committee includes executive departments represented on the Council, and provides general executive oversight to major projects. The Emergency Management Subcommittee, with representatives from the voting Council member, meets at least monthly to carry out the day-to-day work of emergency preparedness for the County, including developing interdepartmental plans and designing exercises. |
