| County Business Continuity
Planning
The Business Continuity Planning Program provides a framework for developing plans to ensure the safety of employees and the resumption of time sensitive operations and services in the event of an emergency such as fire, power or communications blackout, hurricane, flood, earthquake or civil disturbance. All Los Angeles County departments and/or divisions must develop, exercise, and maintain plans for business functions and processing resources. Each department and/or division must develop a plan for its business operations that can sufficiently support the service requirements of other operations and functions involved in the incident. Plans must address the full range of resources including data processing, data communications links, personnel, personal computers, terminals, workspace, voice communication, and documents. The objective the program is to detail Accountabilities, Define Planning Standards, and Outline Implementation Requirements in order to minimize the effect of a disaster. In so doing, the County will more effectively protect the life and safety of personnel, minimize the number of decisions which must be made following an emergency or business interruption, and decrease the dependence on the participation of any specific person or group of people during the Response, Resumption and Recovery phases. Information for preparing Business Continuity Plans is available in the Business Continuity Planning Handbook. Other documents can be found in the Document Library. |
